Our theme for the school year is Wilder WINS — What I Need! At Wilder, we know that every single student is unique, and true success looks different for everyone. That is why this year, we are coming together as a team to support the whole child. Whether a student needs a solid night's sleep, arriving on time with a fresh start, a bit of extra encouragement, or a safe place to try hard and learn from mistakes, we are dedicated to helping them thrive.

Giving our students what they need to learn and grow takes all of us working side by side. School and home are a true partnership. From establishing healthy bedtime routines to making sure students arrive on time and ready for the day, your support at home fuels their success in the classroom.

At Wilder, we proudly build a community where high achievement meets elementary magic. Above all, we want our school to be a warm, joyful, and supportive space where every child feels safe, valued, and excited to learn each day. When we surround our students with care, effort, and strong community support, there is no limit to what they can achieve. At Meet the Teacher, you will receive a special name tag for your student to wear. Please have your child wear this name tag on the very first day of school! Having their name clearly visible allows our staff, bus drivers, and volunteers to instantly know who they are, welcome them by name, and make sure they get to where they need to go smoothly.

This is especially helpful for our quieter kiddos who might feel a bit shy or nervous on day one. The first day of school can be big and overwhelming, and these name tags give us a simple way to comfort, guide, and support your child without putting them on the spot. Thank you so much for helping us keep our students safe, confident, and cared for right from the start!

Don't forget to bring your completed summer learning game boards to Meet the Teacher! We can't wait to see all the great learning and practice you did over the break. Turn your game board in to be entered into your grade-level raffle—winners from each grade will be drawn to win some awesome prizes!

This is your family's opportunity to meet your child's teacher, drop off school supplies, verify transportation, sign up for sports/activities, and have any questions answered.

Returning students ONLY will pick up their Chromebooks from last year's teacher and deliver it to his/her new classroom. New students and Kindergarteners will be delivered to student classrooms at a later date

Calling all Kindergarten families! While you are at "Meet the Teacher", swing by the playground from 12:30-1:30 to meet some of your new class friends. 

Dr. Owens and I had a fantastic start-of-the-year meeting with our amazing Wilder bus drivers! Their dedication to our students is unmatched, and they put together a quick list of tips to help us all partner together for a safe, smooth, and happy school year.

Here is what our drivers want you to know:

Say Hello! Introduce yourself when you see them. Our drivers want to partner with you to ensure your child has the best possible experience.

Be at the Stop 5 Minutes Early: Please have your student ready to board before the bus arrives. Wrap up those final hugs, backpack adjustments, and goodbyes before the doors open so the route stays on schedule.

Never Run Toward or Back to the Bus: Teach your student never to chase a bus or run back if they forgot an item. Safety first, always!

Eyes on the Driver for Street Crossing: If your child needs to cross the street, they should wait for the driver to signal that it is safe, then cross promptly.

Head Straight Inside: Remind your child to go straight home after getting off. Drivers watch from the bus to make sure every student makes it safely to the door.

Keep Drivers in the Loop: If your child’s routine changes and they won’t be riding the bus, please give your driver a heads-up!

Kindergarten Hand-off Rule: Drivers will never allow a kindergartener off the bus unless a trusted adult is at the stop to receive them. Please be waiting on time!

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we kindly ask all families to arrive at their bus stops 20-30 minutes early during the first five or so days of school. Bus arrival times may fluctuate as drivers establish their routes and students become familiar with their schedules.

To help you stay informed, you can follow your student's bus in MyRide K-12, which provides real-time updates on bus locations and estimated arrival times. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work together to ensure a safe and successful start to the school year!

Information about class placement will be available in Infinite Campus right before Meet the Teacher. You can also find out at Meet the Teacher. 

Carpool closes at 7:28. At that time, cars will be directed to park in the front parking lot or in the spaces right before the bus circle. Families must walk their student into the building and sign in.

Please remember:

- No traffic other than JCPS vehicles may pull into the bus circle. Please mind the barricades.

- Do not send your child up on their own - you must walk and sign them in.

- Only staff are allowed to park in the side lot to the right of the school that is past the bus circle.

Thank you for helping our carpool run smoothly! I know that it is frustrating when we stop admitting cars, however the staff working carpool need to be at other posts at 7:30.
