What is the Brigance?
The Brigance Early Childhood Screening is a simple tool we use with all incoming kindergarteners to get a quick look at their early learning and development. It helps us understand each child’s strengths and areas where they may need support as they start school.
To help us get a full picture of your child, we’ll be giving parents a few shortforms to complete about your child’s previous care (like preschool or daycare) and early development. You’ll receive these forms at kindergarten camp, orientation, or on the first day of school—whichever comes first for your family. Your input is super helpful and appreciated as we get to know your child and welcome them to kindergarten!

This is your family's opportunity to meet your child's teacher, drop off school supplies, verify transportation, sign up for sports/activities, and have any questions answered.
Returning students ONLY will pick up their Chromebooks from last year's teacher and deliver it to his/her new classroom. New students and Kindergarteners will be delivered to student classrooms at a later date
New Families: All students who are new to Jefferson County Public Schools must provide the following information to be included in the student's permanent record that is kept in the school office:
- Certified copy of your child's birth certificate, or other reliable proof of your child's identity and age submitted with an affidavit of the inability to produce a copy of the birth certificate
- Kentucky Immunization Certificate
- Kentucky Medical Examination Form
- Kentucky Eye Examination Form
- Kentucky Dental Examination Form
Community Eligibility School Program: We are happy to announce that Wilder will continue participating in this program that allows ALL Wilder students to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost to our families.
Volunteering: Parents must complete a Volunteer Records Check if they volunteer in a supervisory role with children at a school site or on a school sponsored trip. The Jefferson County Board of Education requires volunteers to submit a background check every five years starting July 1, 2016. To complete the records check, go here
Transportation: If you have questions or changes, please reach out to the school. Please note, bus changes at this time will not take effect immediately. If your child will normally be a bus rider, it is very important that they ride the bus on the first day of school to receive an identification tag and learn about bus procedures. Also, students in grades K-2 should have their name and contact information inside their backpacks.
Bus Stops: This information will go live on July 27th. Please see information below about installing the new app to follow the bus!
Dress Code: The Wilder staff would like your cooperation in assisting our students with dressing appropriately for school activities. No halter tops or any other clothing that exposes the abdominal area can be worn at school. Shorts or skirts must be an appropriate length. Hats may not be worn in class. Because daily physical activity is a state requirement, students must wear closed-toe shoes with backs - tennis shoes are strongly encouraged. Jewelry and makeup are discouraged for students. Any type of clothing that causes distractions in the classroom will result in students being referred to the administrative staff.
