Good morning Trojan Families! September is upon us, which is always when the school year starts to feel less "new" and more comfortable. I have been continually impressed by our students this year, and know that great things are in store for them. We had excellent attendance last Wednesday for the CERT assessment for our 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. That assessment is critical to give us baseline data for teachers to plan effectively for what students actually need. Students will repeat that assessment in the winter and spring to check for growth. Talk to your student about how they did - they have their scores - and encourage them to put their best foot forward when we take the winter CERT!

This week I'd like to recognize Ms. Rebecca Rossi, who teaches Algebra 2 in the METAL Academy at Southern. She has been working hard this year to increase the rigor and expectations for student achievement through intentional homework that supports and promotes student understanding and learning. She knows what her students are capable and won't settle for less. Thank you, Ms. Rossi, for LEADing like a Trojan every single day!

Book Club

The first book club meeting for the school year is September 2nd.  We will meet in the library at 8:15 and pick out our first book to read together.  Students and staff are welcome to join.
