Summer Edition - 7/23/2025

Two Weeks Until the First Day of School!

We are just two weeks away from the first day of school, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our scholars back! We hope your summer has been both restful and productive. As we prepare to launch another powerful year of learning, I want to remind you of something we believe deeply: the way we start the year sets the tone for how we finish it—and we plan to finish strong!

With that in mind, we kindly ask that you allow your child to follow their regular transportation plan starting on the very first day of school. Each year, we encounter situations where students are unsure of how they’re getting home because their plan changed unexpectedly. This can be especially overwhelming for our 6th grade scholars and creates unnecessary stress for students and staff alike.

We completely understand that the first day of school is a major milestone, especially for our newest families. Feel free to take photos and celebrate this moment at home or at the bus stop—but please help us support a smooth transition by ensuring your student follows their established transportation plan from day one.

Thank you for your partnership and trust. We can’t wait to see your child’s smile walking through our doors soon. Let’s make this year our best one yet—starting strong, staying strong, and finishing even stronger.

Warmly,
Dr. Monica Hunter-Kirby
Principal

Clear Backpacks ONLY

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to remind you of our Clear Backpack Policy, which remains in effect for the safety and security of all students and staff.

All students are required to use clear backpacks only while on campus. This policy helps ensure a safe learning environment and allows for quick, visible screening as students enter the building.

Please keep in mind:

  • Backpacks must be fully transparent. Mesh backpacks or those with colored or printed designs that obstruct visibility do not meet the requirements.

  • Small, non-clear pouches (e.g., pencil cases or personal hygiene kits) are allowed inside the clear backpack but should remain minimal in size.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe. We look forward to an excellent and secure school year ahead!

The first 100 students who pay their dues will receive a free clear DuBOIS backpack.
