Welcome back, Trojan family! I hope you all had wonderful spring breaks, whether you traveled or stayed home. Sometimes a few days off is all we need to reset and finish the year strong. We only have 6 weeks remaining in this school year, so now is the time for students and staff to really focus in on the work needed to finish 2nd semester and the year strong! Let's do this!
Trojan Motivational Tip: -"If you look behind every exceptional person, there is an exceptional teacher." - Stephen Hawking

This week, I'd like to recognize Mr. Seth Pollitt, who teaches US History in the Freshman Academy at Southern. Mr. Pollitt is a team lead in his Academy, the Social Studies Department Chair, and mentors new teachers regularly. He works hard to ensure his curriculum is updated to meet the needs of students as societal changes occur, and he is a voice of consistent support for our students. Thank you, Mr. Pollitt, for all you do, and for LEADing Like a Trojan!

Leadership in Bloom: Party for the Planet! |
|
|
Our Business Leadership Academy students took their skills out of the classroom and into the wild this week! In honor of Earth Day, our student leaders joined Mayor Craig Greenberg at the zoo for their annual Party for the Planet celebration. The highlight of the event was a collaborative tree-planting ceremony, where our students worked side-by-side with city officials to plant a stunning Ruby Falls Redbud. This wasn't just any addition to the landscape—it was the 481st tree planted at the zoo for Earth Day celebrations! This hands-on experience allowed our students to practice community stewardship and see firsthand how leadership and environmental sustainability go hand-in-hand. See the news story linked below.
