Hello Families,

Believe it or not, we are just about two weeks away from the start of the 2025–2026 school year. Here are some important upcoming dates and reminders to help you prepare:

📅 Important Dates to Remember

🧸 July 31 | Kindergarten Camp | 10:00–11:30 AM
A special welcome event for our incoming Kindergarteners!

There will be a parent meeting with Admin. from 11:00-11:30
Please register through our website under the Back to School tab.

🏫 August 5 | Back to School Night / Meet the Teacher | 5:00–7:00 PM
Come meet your child’s teacher and get ready for the year ahead! You may also bring school supplies to help lessen the load on the first day of school.
To help with parking and space inside the building, please follow the schedule below:

Last names A–L: 5:00–6:00 PM
Last names M–Z: 6:00–7:00 PM

The PTA will be offering sign-up opportunities and handing out a cold treat for all students!
You’ll also be able to pay the school fee on-site (cash or card accepted).

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back!
School hours are 9:40 AM to 4:20 PM.

📬 Class Placement Letters

Grades 1–5: Letters will be sent out this week (Mailed out Thursday and Friday).
Kindergarten: Placement letters will be emailed and mailed after July 31, before Back to School Night.

🎨 Creative Arts Lab New to Norton Commons Elementary!

Whet Your Palette is coming with exciting weekly art sessions every Wednesday from 8:15–9:15 AM. Fall and spring sessions run from August through April. Each week, students will explore a new artist, try fun techniques, and take home their own masterpiece and artist card. This is a K-5 event. registration is through Whet Your Palette. Financial assistance available upon request.

🏃NCES Cross Country Interest Sign-ups 🏃

Exciting News for NCES Families!

We are thrilled to announce that sign-ups for our Cross Country team are now open! This marks our second year as an NCES-only squad, and we are eager to build on the success of last season.

Cross Country is a fantastic way for students to stay active, build endurance, and be part of a supportive team environment. Whether your child is an experienced runner or just looking to try something new, we encourage everyone to join.

There will be a parent meeting on 7-24-25 at 7 PM. Meet at the front of the school for practice and the meeting.

📲 New District-Wide Communication Tool

We’re excited to share that JCPS will be launching a new communication platform this year! This tool will serve as a central hub for all school-related updates, making it especially helpful for families with students in multiple grade levels or schools across the district.

You will receive sign-up information specific to Rooms starting July 28 via email from accounts@edurooms.com and a text from 20819.
