News for you!

With colder temperatures throughout this week the Minors Lane Family Resource Center wanted to share a few reminders and supports that may be helpful for families.

Please continue to watch for official updates from Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) regarding any schedule changes. Families are encouraged to download and regularly check the JCPS App, which is the primary way the district shares timely updates and important notifications.

Cold & Severe Weather Resources

Louisville Water Company offers cold-weather tips to help protect pipes and prevent water damage.

FEMA provides guidance on safely using space heaters and preparing your home during extreme weather.

During extreme cold, warming centers and emergency shelter options may be available in the community. Families can call 2-1-1 for real-time information or check out this site.

Support for Families

Cold or severe weather can affect families in different ways. Support may be available for concerns such as:

Housing instability or emergency shelter needs, Food access during weather-related disruptions, Student mental health or emotional stress, Interruptions to routines that impact learning or well-being

If your family is experiencing challenges in any of these areas, we encourage you to contact the Minors Lane Family Resource Center. We are happy to talk through your situation and help identify possible supports or next steps on a case-by-case basis.
