Message from Principal Smith

Dear Farnsley Families,

What an amazing week it has been at Farnsley! I am so proud of our students, staff, and community for making this such a memorable time filled with learning, leadership, and school spirit.

We kicked off the week with Red Ribbon Week, and our students showed incredible enthusiasm and commitment to making healthy, positive choices. From themed spirit days to classroom discussions, our campus was filled with energy and reminders of the importance of living drug-free.

Our MST Open House and Showcase of Schools were also huge successes! A heartfelt thank-you to all the families who joined us. Our student ambassadors truly shined as they welcomed guests, led tours, and represented our school with confidence and pride. The Explore program stood out as a highlight of the evening, with engaging demonstrations and student projects that captured the creativity and curiosity that make our school special.

In addition, our 8th-grade Healthcare Science students took part in the Stop the Bleed training this week. Through this important, hands-on experience, students learned life-saving skills and gained a deeper understanding of the critical role healthcare professionals play in our communities.

Thank you, families, for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are helping our students grow as learners, leaders, and citizens. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the rest of the semester!

With gratitude and Wildcat pride,
Carolyn B Smith

Explore Spotlight: 8th grade Healthcare Science: Stop the Bleed

This week, our 8th grade Healthcare Science students had the incredible opportunity to participate in Stop the Bleed training with the University of Louisville Trauma Center. During this hands-on experience, students learned how to respond in emergency situations by applying pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets to control bleeding. This important training empowered our future healthcare professionals with real-world skills and confidence to make a difference in their communities. We’re so proud of their focus, teamwork, and dedication to learning!

ELA & Math Spotlight: MAP Testing: Partnering for Student Growth

As we approach our next round of MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing, we encourage all families to take a few minutes to talk with their children about their current MAP scores and goals for growth. These assessments are an important tool that help us understand each student’s learning progress and guide instruction to meet their individual needs.

When students know their goals and feel supported at home, they are more motivated to do their best. Please help us by encouraging your child to take their time, stay focused, and show what they know. Use the tables to the right to talk with your students about where they are and what steps they need to take to reach their goals. Together, we can help every student reach new heights in their learning!
