Message from Principal Smith

Dear Farnsley Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had a restful, joyful break and were able to spend meaningful time together. As we begin 2026, we are excited to welcome students back and start this new chapter refreshed and ready to learn.

Before the break, we were incredibly proud of our 6th and 7th grade students for the outstanding job they did during their Exhibition of Learning. Students confidently shared their work, explained their thinking, and clearly demonstrated the growth they have made this semester. Thank you to the families who attended and supported our students—your presence truly made the experience special.

As we return to school, the new year offers a natural reset and a fresh opportunity for students to refocus, set goals, and build strong habits as we power through the remainder of the school year. Our staff is committed to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally as we work together toward a strong finish.

We also want to thank families for your continued flexibility and support during NTI Days earlier this winter. As a reminder, all NTI assignments must be completed and submitted within 24 hours of students returning to the building. Your partnership in reinforcing expectations helps ensure students stay on track for success.

Additionally, we invite you to join us for our PTSA Online Open Forum on January 12 at 6:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to connect, ask questions, and partner with us in supporting our school community. Information on how to join can be found below.

We are looking forward to a productive and positive start to the new year and all that lies ahead for our Farnsley students. Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration.

Wishing you health, happiness, and success in the year ahead.

Warm regards,
Carolyn B. Smith

Farnsley Short Term NTI Plan

Students were given hard copies of NTI work packet 2 (Day 4-6) yesterday (December 16, 2025) to bring home. These should be kept in a safe place at home, in case the district designates an NTI day.  Notice of the district using an NTI day will be communicated via the local news, Thrillshare, and school email communication.  More often, advanced notices are based on the current conditions of our weather or community.  Please be mindful of that and follow accordingly.  Digital copies of the work received will also be posted on teacher's Google Classrooms the day of NTI, and will also be accessible through the button on the Farnsley.us homepage. More information can be found using the link below.  Teachers will be accessible via email during the school day based on the schedule outlined.

Explore Highlights: New Explore Coach: Welcome Mr. Lewis!

Hello Farnsley Community! My name is Brandon Lewis, and I am excited to become a part of your school community as the Explore Coach. I have lived in Louisville, KY since 2009 and been in education for 16 years. I have been married for 16 years to my wife Brittany and have two children (Isaiah 9, and Lilliah 5) that are looking forward to also being a part of our community too.  I love waking up every day and getting to be with young people. I think it helps me stay young too! I’ve worn many hats in school, but I think the opportunity to impact Farnsley’s Explore Pathways program is one of the biggest opportunities to impact young people I’ve been fortunate to have. I look forward to working with teachers and students to help create a space where everyone feels welcome and can succeed.
